KINGS KIDS DAY CARE
The Kings Kids Day Care program provides school year care, both before and after school and also on non-school days for preschool and school age children. The Kings Kids Summer  Day Care Program provides day care during the summer months when school is not in session for preschool and school age children.

PROGRAM AND PHILOSPHY
The primary purpose for offering our day care program is to provide high quality, Christ centered care for children during the daytime
hours. Within that framework, the programs seek to provide an educational/recreational environment conducive to learning with a minimum of formal structure. Spiritual values are taught  informally through our attitudes and actions as well as during "Jesus time". The intent of our programs is to create a warm and caring atmosphere for each child who participates in our programs.

Children enrolled in one of our programs are offered options to participate in a variety of group and individual activities, such as blocks, music, discovery, manipulatives, woodworking, and puppets, dramatic play, art, game, home living, books, sensory table, puzzles and other inside and outside activities that enhance the program. Through these options,we help children to develop the spiritual, physical, intellectual, social, creative, and emotional aspects at their appropriate developmental  level.

MT. HOPE LUTHERAN SCHOOL began in the fall of 1957 in the basement of the church with two Kindergarten classes and a plan to add one grade per year. The first 3 grades were started in the fall of 1959 and near the end of that year new facilities were complete. The fall of 1960 saw the beginning of 4th grade. In 1961 a 5th grade was added and in 1962 a 6th grade was added.

REDEMPTION LUTHERAN SCHOOL began in the fall of 1956 with a Kindergarten. Classes were held in the Fellowship Hall. First grade was added in 1957, 2nd and 3rd grade in 1958, 4th grade in 1959, 5th grade in 1960, and 6th grade in 1961. The building was built in three phases between 1956 and 1978.

MT. HOPE-REDEMPTION LUTHERAN SCHOOL was formed to expand and improve the quality of our education. Mt. Hope and The Lutheran Church of the Redemption voting bodies resolved to improve the mission outreach of their schools by combining them in 1971. A Preschool for 4 year olds was added in the fall of 1976. The 7th grade was added in the fall of 1977, and 8th grade in the fall of 1978 . A Preschool for 3 year olds was added in 1988. An Extended School Day (ESD) program was introduced in the fall of 1991. Preschool and Kindergarten are held at the West Campus (Mt. Hope).  Grades 1-8 are held at the East Campus (Redemption).

DAVE POLZIN, Principal,  writes in Mt. Hope's May Newsletter...

When Jesus lived the perfect life for us here on earth, He gave us many examples of kindness toward others. Wouldn’t you have liked to be one of those little children he took on his lap, put his hands on and blessed? Some grownups chased the children away because they thought Jesus was too busy. But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me.”
Another time a large crowd gathered to see and hear Jesus. They brought along nothing to eat. Read about the kindness Jesus showed them in Mark 8.

The greatest act of kindness happened when Jesus gave up his life on the cross. He was punished for us so that we can live forever with him. What a kind and loving Savior we have!
As God’s children, we show His kindness by being kind to others. Sometimes it’s hard to be kind to those with whom we live day after day. At times our kindness is replaced by harsh words and actions. “See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.”
I Thessalonians 5:15.
Although we are heading toward the end of the school year, there are many events that fill it up and make the year exciting.
Parents of students in our preschool classes will be having Parent-Teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday, May 1-2, at the west campus. This provides an opportunity to share information regarding the progress of each of our preschool children.
Students in grades 5-8 will be attending the All-Sports Day, which is planned for Friday, May 9, at Concordia Academy - Bloomington. Students from 8-10 schools come together on this day to complete in a variety of events. On the same day, students in grades 1-4 get to enjoy Jelly Bean Day, giving them the opportunity to earn jelly beans for their athletic feats!
Students in grades 1-8 are also looking forward to minicourse day, scheduled for Friday, May 23. Students will be have the opportunity to experience a variety of classes in which they have an interest, such as woodworking, golf, a variety of arts, cooking, and the like.
You are invited to attend MHR’s music concert, held in the east campus gym, on Thursday, May 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m..
The year wraps up with the 8th grade students going to the Wisconsin Dells in late May, an all-school picnic on June 4, and eighth grade graduation at Redemption on Sunday, June 8. Add in a variety of field trips during the month, and you can see that there is much to do before we end our year. Our summer King’s Kids Child Care program begins on Monday, June 9.
On behalf of the faculty, staff, students, and parents of MHR, I would like to say thanks to both congregations for their prayers and financial support of Christian education.

 God’s blessings to you!
